FOUR-WEEK CLINICAL TRIAL PROVES EFFECTIVENESS OF GASTRIC BAND HYPNOTHERAPY
A four-week clinical trial of gastric band hypnotherapy performed at Woolloongabba’s Health and Harmony Clinic has demonstrated the effectiveness of this new weight loss treatment. The fifteen participants lost on average 897 grams per week while attending gastric band hypnotherapy sessions—just under the maximum safe weight loss of one kilogram per week. This is a fantastic result!
BACKGROUND: WHAT IS GASTRIC BAND HYPNOTHERAPY?
Gastric band surgery is a well-known and effective procedure for patients struggling with their weight. Unfortunately, it is a costly procedure that involves invasive surgery, requires post-operative recuperation, and carries significant risks – including gastric infection. Because of these risks, gastric band surgery is restricted to morbidly obese patients (45+ kilograms overweight). Gastric band hypnotherapy uses hypnotherapy to convince the body that a gastric band procedure has been performed. Clients report feeling fuller much faster, which leads to reduced appetite, reduced food consumption, and weight loss. There’s no painful surgery, no recovery time required, and none of the potential complications of real gastric band surgery.
BACKGROUND: WHO PERFORMED THE TRIAL?
Australian Hypnotherapists’ Association-registered clinical hypnotherapist Gwendoline Ford is an accredited hypnotherapy trainer and licensed hypnoband practitioner. Who's Gastric Band Hypnoptherapy procedure incorporates information about healthy and emotial eating as well as breaks subconscious craving patterns in order to set clients up for lifelong weight loss success.
TRIAL METHODOLOGY
There were fifteen female participants in the trial. Each participant was weighed and had their height measured in the first week to calculate BMI. After measurements were taken, each participant took part in a 90 minute gastric band hypnotherapy session. Participants were then weighed at the beginning of each week’s session to track their weight loss. (As the trial took place over four Monday nights, the clinic therefore measured how much weight the participants lost over three weeks of hypnotherapy.)
TRIAL RESULTS
-
Total weight lost: The fifteen participants between them lost 40.4 kilograms over the course of three weeks of hypnotherapy.
-
Average weight lost: Each participant lost, on average, 2.69 kilograms over the course of the three weeks, or 897 grams per week. (Most health authorities do not recommend losing more than one kilogram of weight per week.)
-
Most successful participants: The two most successful trial participants lost a total of 4.6 kilograms over three weeks, or 1530 grams per week.
-
BMI:The group had an average BMI of 34.23 at the beginning of the trial. After three weeks of hypnotherapy, the group’s average BMI was 33.27, or an average BMI loss of 0.96 points.
-
Most improved BMI:One participant lost 1.66 points from her BMI over the course of the three weeks. Another shifted from a BMI of 30.12 (obese) to 29.01 (overweight).
